This painting is inspired by
the song "Old Friends" by Simon and Garfunkel. One of my favorite
songs, and has been imprinted in my mind for decades. For sure the song becomes
more meaningful as time passes. "Can you imagine us years from today,
sharing a park bench quietly, how terribly strange to be 70". The words
haunt me.
So I'm thinking of two old friends, sitting on a park bench as they have been doing so for so many, many years. It might be Central Park or Golden Gate Park or any park. It is Autumn and the leaves are falling, the air is cool, and these two old friends are having a talk. The talk is inconsequential to you or me, but to them it's resolute. Old Friends.
